 J.S. Bach  St Matthew Passion

Bach channels the tragedy and transcendence of the Passion into one heart-rending masterpiece.
Even Bach knew he had written something very special with his St Matthew Passion, referring to it as his favourite. The richness of his music and its illumination of the text remain as moving now as they were in 1727, and the sincerity of the composer’s devotion continues to shine through.
