Q&A - Tiddly Prom: Bert's Magical Musical Kitchen

Tiddly Prom
Bert’s Magical Musical Kitchen
St David’s Hall
Saturday 20 – Saturday 27 July

(No Show on Sunday 21 July)

IF YOU’RE looking for the perfect way to start the summer holidays with your little ones, then you’ll love this year’s Tiddly Prom at St David’s Hall!

Bert and Cherry return to Lefel 1 for SEVEN fun-filled performances at 10.30am each day from Saturday 20 – Saturday 27 July (excluding Sunday 21 July)

Entitled Bert’s Magical Musical Kitchen, this interactive and accessible concert for under 5s sees Bert throwing a birthday party for his friend Daphne. Even the Mayor is invited! There’s lots to do – he has to make food, invite guests and plan party games. Luckily Cherry is there to help and his musician friends will bring their music. What could possibly go wrong?!

Neil Collins chats to Arts Active Manager, Bryony Harris who heads the youth engagement team behind the Tiddly Prom…

Describe this year’s Tiddly Prom – Bert’s Magical Musical Kitchen in a nutshell.

Bert’s Magical Musical Kitchen is a show exploring the joy of music and its many instruments for under 5s and their families.  There is a strong learning and musical emphasis with memorable songs and stories for little ones to enjoy, plus jokes for all ages to chuckle at!

What interaction can the audience expect with the performers?

Expect a lot of audience participation with Bert and his friends!  They encourage the children to sing along with all the songs – they are catchy and easy to learn, often including fun hand gestures or silly noises to make!  The show is an extremely relaxed atmosphere with kids encouraged to get involved as much as possible.

Does the Tiddly Prom reflect great value family fun?

Most definitely.  Booking tickets for a family can get expensive, but parents don’t have to worry about that with our shows, as they represent excellent value for money. Tickets for the Tiddly Prom are just £7.50, and under one years go free!

Who are Arts Active?

Arts Active Trust is a registered charity that supports education, community and audience engagement projects from St David’s Hall and The New Theatre.  We aim to encourage people, from the youngest to oldest to engage in and enjoy arts activity.

Why is the Tiddly Prom unmissable for children and their grown-ups?

The Tiddly Prom is a firm favourite for families as it’s so lovely to see little ones enthralled by the singing and the story!  Children do sometimes get carried away and end up running onstage, which is always really funny but Bert always handles it really well!

The Tiddly Prom is on every day from Saturday 20 – Saturday 27 July at 10.30am (except for no show on Sunday 21 July).

Each performance lasts approximately 55 minutes.
