Jazz Prom: Matt Ford and the Capital City Jazz Orchestra

Join Cardiff's own Capital City Jazz Orchestra and the magnificent Matthew Ford for an evening celebrating the great Frank Sinatra and the Kings of Swing. Featuring songs from the swing era from the likes of Tony Bennett, Bobby Darin, Sammy Davis Jnr and Matt Monro and of course the great Frank Sinatra, this promises to be a great evening of swinging Big Band jazz.

Award-winning vocalist Matthew Ford is widely regarded as the finest big band singer in the UK, building an enviable wealth of experience, performing with the Halle, Philharmonia, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, City of Birmingham Symphony, BBC and RTE Concert Orchestras, as well as the BBC Big Band and Syd Lawrence Orchestra.

The Capital City Jazz Orchestra was formed in 2007 and features some of the finest Jazz musicians in South Wales. They play regularly at Jazz Clubs across Wales and have performed at the Brecon Jazz Festival and Swansea International Jazz Festival. In the last 10 years they have worked with a host of International Jazz artists including Lee Gibson, Jeff Hooper, Alan Barnes, Mark Nightingale, Dave O' Higgins, Bruce Adams, Nigel Hitchcock and Bobby Shew. They are returning to the Welsh Proms for the sixth year after hugely successful concerts with Pete Long, Clare Teal, Claire Martin and Lance Ellington.
