BBC NOW-Debussy & Shostakovich

7:30 PM

DUE TO THE ARRIVAL OF THE OLYMPIC TORCH OUTSIDE THE HALL PLEASE ALLOW EXTRA TIME WHEN TRAVELLING TO THIS CONCERT. The vibrant orchestral colours of Debussy’s Images conjure the heat, dancing crowds, and intoxicating fragrance of Spain, including the atmospheric sun-drenched Iberia. Shostakovich’s troubled and searingly urgent First Violin Concerto is one of his greatest works..

Welsh Proms Cardiff

During the summer months Cardiff takes on a carnival atmosphere with events taking place in and around Wales's capital as part of Cardiff Festival. Of all those events the Welsh Proms Cardiff are both the longest established and the jewel in the crown. For over a week every corner of St David's Hall, the National Concert Hall of Wales throngs to a variety of different music, ranging from some of the city's youngest and most talented musicians to international quality symphony concerts, creating an irresistible party buzz.

Volunteer Opportunities at the Welsh Proms Cardiff 2012

We are looking for enthusiastic, friendly volunteers to help run this summer's Welsh Proms Cardiff. You will work alongside arts professionals, gain invaluable work experience and get to see some wonderful performances. Volunteers must be aged 16-25 and be ready for some long but enjoyable days (and evenings) working in all departments of St David's Hall, the National Concert Hall of Wales.

If you would like to be a volunteer for this prestigious festival then just fill in the application form here by Thursday 7 June.

If you would like further information about the volunteer scheme, please email artsactive@cardiff.gov.uk
