International  Concert Series

An Exciting 2011/2012 Series

Inspiring, Innovative, International!

St David's Hall is delighted to welcome you to their new International Concert Series 2011/2012. Bringing international orchestras, soloists and conductors of the highest calibre to the National Concert Hall of Wales is no mean feat but this year we really have something to shout about. Join us and experience the magic of world class performances in a wonderful venue with a friendly atmosphere and a superb acoustic - right here in the centre of Cardiff.

An orchestral concert is a unique experience. When a conductor, soloist and eighty players come together, it is often a one-off experience, heard once, twice or three times at the most, creating a wonderful sense of occasion. Experience this magic for yourself in this season's concerts, featuring some of the leading conductors, soloists and orchestras.

Highlights Include:

Kempf's Beethoven Marathon

Join charismatic young pianist Freddy Kempf on a journey through all five Beethoven Piano Concertos in which he
directs the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra from the keyboard.

A Night At The Antarctic

century - experience a special concert of Vaughan Williams's chilling and atmospheric Scott-inspired music.

From Theatre to Concert Hall
Three concerts by the Orchestra of Welsh National Opera. Russian romance from Rachmaninov, music inspired by Napoleon, spice from Schoenberg and Adams and Brahms's
rapt and contemplative Requiem.

Out of the Opera House
Lothar Koenigs conducts three concerts by the Orchestra of Welsh National Opera, ranging through the majesty of Bruckner, the Magyar magic of Bartòk to Stravinsky's glittering Firebird Suite.

GreatSoloists

Piano concertos from Frédéric Chaslin, Freddy Kempf and Antti Siirala. Violin concertos from Alina Ibragimova, Natalia Lomeiko and Alina Pogostkina.
