Jimmy White, Alex Higgins, Ken Doherty & Cliff Thorburn are coming to St David’s Hall on Thursday 13th May 2010 for an evening of Snooker and Nostalgia. On this special evening one of them will be crowned the Cardiff Legend 2010!

Its 28 years since Alex Higgins captured the hearts of the nation by winning his second World Championship at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.  It’s been a while since we’ve seen him on the big stage, but now he’s back to give his fans one more chance to see the Hurricane blow again.

Cliff Thorburn remains the only ever overseas winner of the World Championship, his victory in 1980 made him a national hero in Canada and endeared him to millions of fans in the UK. In 1983 he achieved the first ever 147 in the tournament. In 1983 Cliff was awarded the Order of Canada.

Darling of Snooker fans everywhere, and local hero, Jimmy White is still undoubtedly one of the most popular faces the game has ever had.  Still competing on the main tour, and now carving out a name for himself in the new 6 red format of the game, he still commands a full house wherever he plays.  Jimmy was awarded the MBE for services to snooker in 1999.

Ken Doherty won his first professional tournament in Wales and is a two time Welsh Open Champion. He is also the only ever player to have won both the World Amateur (1989) and World Professional (1997) Snooker Championships. In 2007 Ken won his third Irish Open Championship, retaining the title he won in 2006.  Ken is still competing on the main tour as well working for the BBC as part of their commentary team.

John Virgo, ‘JV’ himself, will also be on hand as compere, host and will also entertain the crowds with some trick shots. John himself is a former UK Snooker Champion.

This event is strictly one night only. Limited VIP packages are available; this includes a champagne reception with all the players prior to the matches, a premium seat at the event and a souvenir brochure.

Plus one lucky audience member will partner a legend in a game of doubles, join us for what promises to be an unforgettable night, snooker legends... bringing legends back to the baize.
