Schubert - Sonata in A Minor, D821 ‘Arpeggione'
Rachmaninov - Cello Sonata in G Minor, Op19
One of the UK's most prominent young cellists, Philip Higham, will bring Schubert's creative and exciting Arpeggione Sonata to life, alongside Rachmaninov's brooding and dramatic Sonata in G Minor.
Higham trained at the Royal Northern College of Music and has since appeared as a soloist with ensembles including Sinfonia Cymru and the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, given a recital at Wigmore Hall and won a number of prizes in international cello competitions.
"Higham's passionate connection with the piece, his total technical command of its virtuosic demands, were outstanding." - The Guardian, December 2009
