As there may be traffic disruption during the Cardiff Castle/ High Street development please take this into consideration when attending a performance at St David's Hall.
Work is to be carried out in Castle Street connecting Cardiff Castle to High Street.
The work is part of the scheme to create a Castle Quarter which has already seen the start of a pedestrian friendly environment for High Street and St Mary Street.
The Castle Street crossing will link Cardiff Castle to High Street, essentially helping to provide a direct connection from Bute Park to Cardiff Bay.
Alongside this construction other work will be carried out simultaneously to help minimise disruption. This includes the further development of the Bus Box and new bus facilities in Kingsway, Duke Street and Castle Street as well as major improvements at the Castle Street / Westgate Street junction.
The work will begin on Sunday, June 27 and is likely to take four months until the end of October. A traffic management system will be put in place with traffic from the junction of North Road and Boulevard de Nantes to Castle Street Bridge reduced to one lane in each direction.
Executive member for Traffic and Transportation, Councillor Delme Bowen, said: "This work is going to dramatically improve the north end of the city and is integral to what we are doing with High Street and St Mary Street. Like we have seen with the Duke Street junction the end results will more than justify the disruption that this work will cause.
"However, as we learnt with the Duke Street work, if drivers are sensible and can find alternative routes for their journeys while this work is going on then disruption really can be kept to an absolute minimum.
"This work is integral to the Council's vision of a re-invigorated Castle Quarter, which can only enhance and improve the city centre of Cardiff."
