The team behind the popular education, community and audience engagement programme at St David's Hall and our sister venue the New Theatre.
Taking inspiration from the diverse programmes of St David's Hall & the New Theatre and using them as a powerful catalyst for creative endeavours, we aim to encourage people, from the youngest to oldest, to engage in and enjoy arts activity. You'll still see the same great arts projects that made up the St David's Hall Access All Areas programme but there will be more initiatives that work across both St David's Hall and the New Theatre, making the most of Cardiff's premier city centre venues.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer Work Experience?
Yes. We offer a 5 day work experience placement for pupils aged 14yrs + at the New Theatre or St David's Hall. Placements are offered following completion of an application form that can be downloaded from the website, and a practical workshop.
How many Work Experience pupils can you take?
We can accommodate up to a term (1 at a time in each venue). The deadline for applications will be posted on the website. Any applications received after this deadline will not be considered.
How far in advance do I need to apply?
The earlier, the better. The deadline and workshop will always be a term in advance, so anyone who is unsuccessful will still have time to find an alternative placement.

Do you offer Work Placement opportunities for students / graduates?
Occasionally it is possible to arrange a specific placement. If you would like to be considered for a placement, send a covering note and your c.v to artsactive@cardiff.gov.uk. Make sure to include the type of placement you would like and the dates you would be available.
Can I have a placement with your costume and make up department?
No - as we do not have one. The New Theatre and St David's Hall are both receiving venues, meaning productions come with their own staff. It may be possible if you are able to contact the production company directly.

Unfortunately at this time, St David's Hall and the New Theatre currently have no full time vacancies. Should any arise in the future they will, in the first instance be advertised internally to existing employees of Cardiff Council, if this proves unsuccessful the post will then be advertised externally.
